Institutional Buying in VIX March 60 Calls

Jamie Tyrrell reports from the CBOE trading floor on OptionMONSTER’s Volatility Sonar report, discussing some interesting large VIX options trades, including institutional purchases of:

  • 4000 March 60 calls @ 1.40

  • March 55-65 call spread @ 1.25

Interesting piece - although I'll admit I have no idea what to make of the information. Should we expect more vol?

This purchase could have been made to hedge a significant long position and therefore part of a bullish trade.
