BuyWrite indices are on my list of items to explore when things settle down a bit. I would probably start with the BXM, since I focus more of my efforts on the SPX than the DJIA.

FYHI, I just checked out OptionMonster and it looks promising.

Good luck!Bill Lubyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01241003017364820134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-897456774486153841.post-57551535183783788542007-03-02T13:35:00.000-08:002007-03-02T13:35:00.000-08:00Just wanted to say I'm enjoying your blog as I div...Just wanted to say I'm enjoying your blog as I dive into the world of options. I'm writing for OptionMonster.com --your earthquake metaphor I found to be very helpful in comprehending the VIX's behavior and blogged it on our site today. Separately, I got CBOE's latest study in my inbox today--evaluating the use of the BXD and VXD indexes. Any thoughts on this? Look forward to reading more on your site, HollyHollyDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17647500257545752184noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-897456774486153841.post-36489806726781779782007-03-01T21:19:00.000-08:002007-03-01T21:19:00.000-08:00Interesting factoids; thanks for sharing.Just as a...Interesting factoids; thanks for sharing.

Just as an aside, we had an earthquake here about a half an hour ago. It was only a 4.2 quake, but I still felt it some 30 miles or so away. Eerie timing.Bill Lubyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01241003017364820134noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-897456774486153841.post-23851084249360141722007-03-01T21:10:00.000-08:002007-03-01T21:10:00.000-08:00I have done some research myself on “clusters”. I...I have done some research myself on “clusters”. I define cluster as 4 or more new 50-day highs within a 10-day period. Once ten days go by without a new 50-day high, there tends to be a long time before a new 50 day high is reached. The median number of days is 61; the mean, slightly over 60.

When looking at 50-day highs over a 20 day period, the highest number of new highs is 11. Second highest is 8, which happened twice.

VIX spikes definitely tend to cluster.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
